MIAMI — Ophthalmologists need to understand types of ptosis to identify and treat the condition, according to a speaker at Sunshine Eye & Retina.
According to Jennifer Murdock, MD, a number of factors lead to ptosis, and not all ptosis needs to be corrected.
It is important to distinguish between dermatochalasis, blepharoptosis, brow ptosis or a possible combination.
“Identifying the type of ptosis is your first and foremost concern when these patients come to your office,” she said. “Look at best management options and consider special disease comorbidities.”
According to Murdock,
